GENERAL QUESTIONS
Why Yoga?
We may be biased on the subject but we believe yoga is for everyone. Studies have shown that a regular practice can not only improve the body’s strength, flexibility, and balance, but can actually reduce blood pressure, improve sleep quality, and decrease stress levels, just to name a few benefits.
I’m brand new to yoga. Where do I start?
It’s best to start in our Gentle, Restorative or Deep Stretch classes.
Our teachers are experienced with students of all abilities. We do recommend setting your mat up in the middle of the room so you can see the teacher and other students. Once you start to learn the names of the movements and the format of the class, the experience becomes much more natural.
What types of classes do you offer at the studio?
We offer something for everyone. Our style incorporates elements of alignment yoga, functional movement, and vinyasa flow; all with an emphasis on mindful breathing. Teachers will always offer options for students, but please choose a class that speaks to your current level of ability. For more information, see our Class Descriptions page or feel free to contact us.
I’m not flexible. Can I still practice yoga?
Absolutely! If you are feeling intimidated (which is totally normal!) consider starting with our Gentle, Deep Stretch or Restorative classes. With consistent practice, your flexibility will improve tremendously!
Where should I park?
There is plenty of parking in Old Town La Quinta; either on Main Street or surrounding parking areas.
WHAT TO BRING
What should I wear?
Wear clothing that allows you to move freely. Athletic wear or loose-fitting sweats and t-shirts are best. Most women wear athletic pants and tops. Men generally wear athletic shorts (gym shorts or spandex) and t-shirts. Many practitioners bring layers, since your body’s temperature will rise during the active portions of class and fall during final relaxation.
What should I bring to class?
We have everything you need. Many practitioners, however, prefer to use their own mats, but we have some at the studio for you to use, free of charge. We provide all of the props (blankets, bolsters, blocks, straps, eye pillows) you may need.
Is there any etiquette I need to know about?
Please remove your shoes when you enter the studio. Silence your cell phone and leave it with your belongings in one of our cubbies. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your class start in order to get settled.
MEMBERSHIP
What is membership?
Membership is our way of making yoga available to all — from the once a week warrior to the daily practitioner.
These are our most affordable payment options.
We offer flexible and you can freeze your account once per year for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of one month. These are auto-debited memberships so you can cancel with 15 days notice by sending an email to jennifer@gatherlaquinta.com
Should I register online?
Yes. Registering prior to class helps things run smoothly for both you and the teacher. Thank you for registering prior to class. We take Visa, MC, Zelle and Venmo.
Walk Ins / Drop Ins
Our doors open 15 minutes before the start of class. If there are open spots in class, they will always be open to walk-ins.
Cancellations and No-Shows
Please note that failure to arrive for a reserved class or canceling a reservation less than FOUR (4) hours before the start of class will result in a $28 fee for those on an unlimited membership and $28 fee plus loss of class for those that have a 5 class package, mini membership, rolling 8 or single class.
This policy is enforced October to June
